25. What is a Pre-Major?

To keep UCSB's most popular majors from becoming over-subscribed, applicants to Biopsychology, Business Economics, Economics, Communication, Mathematics, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology are admitted under pre-major status. Students must complete pre-major requirements with specific grade point averages at UCSB before being granted full major status. All students admitted to majors in computer science, or in the biological sciences, are also admitted under pre-major status.
