  • The median time to obtain an undergraduate degree is four years, which compares favorably to the national average.

  • Approximately 77% of freshmen will graduate from UCSB within five years.

Average Course Enrollment
UCSB offers over 1,800 classes each quarter to more than 18,000 students.

  • Undergraduate student-to-faculty ratio is 20:1.

  • Lower division classes average 47 students each, although there are a number of introductory courses with several hundred students.

  • Upper division classes average 35 students each.

  • Almost half of our courses enroll 21 or fewer students.

Housing
New freshman and transfer students are guaranteed housing in one of 10 residence halls if they submit their Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) by May 1:

  • There are eight University-owned residential halls.

  • There are two privately-owned residence halls in Isla Vista (Tropicana, Fontainebleu).

  • The University owns several apartment complexes in adjacent Isla Vista, including student family complexes.

  • Students may also rent from numerous privately owned apartments in the area.
