The University of California, Santa Barbara welcomes students from other
countries. At the present time, 245 undergraduate and 611 graduate students
from 69 countries are studying here. An international applicant is a student
who holds or expects to hold a student, exchange, visitor, or diplomatic visa
and who wishes to attend school in the United States.
Please see our brochure and guide for international applicants:
UC Santa Barbara is a highly selective institution and the number of qualified
applicants far exceeds the number of places we have available for new students.
We look for very high scholastic achievement, depth and breadth of preparatory
coursework, and excellent test scores.
Please note that UCSB considers for admission those students who will be
first-time freshmen (first year) or those who transfer as juniors (third year).
We accept applications from international students for the fall term only.
The credentials of an international undergraduate applicant are evaluated in
accordance with the general regulations governing admission.

The University of California at Santa Barbara has established The Global Scholarship for freshman applicants who live outside California. The prestigious merit-based award will recognize the academic achievements of top non-resident freshmen who are offered admission to UCSB. Students will not apply for the Global Scholarship; eligibility will be calculated automatically as part of the admission process.
